Who What When Where and Why We Need to Move....

Andy and I have been together almost two years now. Every other weekend he and I have packed our things and made the four hour trek to Winston Salem to spend his allotted time with his two sons. I wouldn't trade those weekends for anything but eight hours in the car with a baby who wants to 'go go' and a 4 year old with a short attention span is making me rather saddle sore. Limited finances have also prevented us from visiting as often as we are allowed. I know this kills my sweet man... he talks about the boys all the time.

We currently live in a three bedroom single wide for a very low monthly rent. This is the best we can do in Virginia unfortunately because I stay home with the baby and Andy pays a decent amount in child support. The cost of housing in this area is astronomical because of multiple military bases (BAH) and Section Eight allotments are around 800$ making the average rent for a middle of the road home with no central air around 800. Three bedroom apartments in Chesapeake and Portsmouth run around 1200 dollars a month. The average home for sale is significantly above our price range or significantly destroyed beyond our financial abilities to make it livable.

When all four children are in this trailer we are so very thankful for good weather and a large yard. Our humble abode was a spur of the moment favor from a family friend. We are very grateful for an inexpensive place to stay but unfortunately it is insufficient for a long term housing situation. All of us love Surry but Andy's job is over an hour away not counting tunnel traffic creating a large dent in our budget.

Andy and I came to the conclusion we needed to move a few months ago. We've been searching for a home in the Winston Salem area in hopes of being closer to the kids, closer to civilization and finding an affordable fixer-upper with space for our large family. This move would enable us some cushion financially and prevent having to disappoint the boys when we have a rough month. We want to create a home that is ours, a life-long investment in the stability and futures of our children. I decided to write this blog to chronicle our adventures because the search has already proven rather interesting.
Our kids: Cole-9(Middle) Cary-6(Left) Haddie-4 (Right) and Augie- now 8 months (Don't mind him... red eye reduction made him look super doped up)
